The Arch
(1997)
This set was 14 meters long and 3.6 meters high in the centre. It was shaped in a semi-circle.
The principle is simple : the Arch is made up of 35 paintings which fit into each other, plus a metallic « sky » and a base of pallets.
Each piece is an independent painting.
Here are for instance twelve pieces of the puzzle (from the right of the centre pannel)
The Arch is painted on raw poplar planks.
The painting technique (glaze technique) is an updated version of the Flemish Primitives
The adventure of the Arch came to an end in February 1999.
All the paintings were sold separately and spread out throughout Europe.
The Arch was exhibited in three countries (France, Belgium and Luxembourg)
and 12 exhibitions between 22 March 1997 and 25 February 1999.
